At least 58 people were killed last night in the largest mass shooting in modern United States history. The mass shooting happned early Monday morning at the Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas during Jason Aldean’s performance.
The shooter, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, fired on concert goers from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino with a high-powered weapon. The festival was taking place at the Las Vegas Village outdoor arena.
Concert goer Meghan Kearney tells MSNBC: “We heard what sounded like firecrackers going off. Then all of a sudden we heard what sounded like a machine gun. People started screaming that they were hit … When we started running out there were probably a couple hundred [people] on the ground.”
The shooter committed suicide as police were entering his hotel room.
