Florida Georgia Line Makes Huge Leap To Number 1

Florida Georgia Line made a quantum leap with “H.O.L.Y” as its brand new single jumped all the way from 39 to number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week ending May 21. FGL took over for Dierks Bentley’s “Somewhere on a Beach,” which fell to second. Chris Stapleton still has the top selling country disc with “Traveller.”
Chris Young was third on the songs chart with “Think of You,” his duet with Cassadee Pope. Tim McGraw held fourth with “Humble And Kind,” one ahead of Luke Bryan’s “Huntin’, Fishin’ & Lovin’ Every Day,” which moved up from ninth. Dan + Shay were at 19 with “From the Ground Up,” up 3.

Martina McBride debuted in second on the albums chart with “Reckless.” Joey + Rory were third again with “Hymns,” one ahead of Sturgill Simpson’s “A Sailors Guide to Earth.” Sam Hunt was fifth with “Montevallo.”

Vince Gill moved from 21 to 17 with “Down to My Last Bad Habit.” Granger Smith also was up 4, to 18, with “Remington.” Kane Brown’s “Chapter 1” EP was at 20, up 5. Carrie Underwood at 24 with “Greatest Hits: Decade #1.” Brett Eldredge’s “Illinois” closed out the top 25, up 5.

On the Bluegrass Albums chart, Steve Martin’s “Bright Star: A New Musical on Broadway debuted at the top. The Spinney Brothers were second with “Living the Dream.” We Banjo 3 were third with “Live in Galway.” Rhonda Vincent’s Christmas Time” was back on the charts in fourth, despite it being May. Sierra Hull was fifth with “Weighted Mind.”

On the overall top 200, Stapleton was 8th, Hunt 24th, McBride 31st, Thomas Rhett 32nd with “Tangled Up” and Bryan 33rd. The top 200 and country albums charts used different criteria.
