Garth Brooks breaks Ottawa, Ontario Sales Record

Oklahoma country music superstar Garth Brooks this morning has broken his Ottawa, Ontario, ticket sales record, according to a news release.

His previous record in the Canadian city was 36,952 tickets sold and was set Sept. 2-3, 1996, when Canadian Tire Centre was called Ottawa Palladium.

Today, Brooks, who has born in Tulsa and raised in Yukon, has sold more than 50,000 tickets, and all three shows are sold out.

The concerts at Canadian Tire Centre will be:
Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 2 at 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Here in the U.S., Brooks’ shows scheduled for this weekend at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore have been postponed due to the anticipated effects there of Winter Storm Jonas. Here is the statement from the venue:

Due to the impending winter storm expected to arrive late Friday and for the safety of all fans and all personnel involved, the tour is postponing the Friday, January 22nd and Saturday, January 23rd shows.

The Friday, January 22nd 7PM show will be rescheduled for Sunday, January 31st 3:00PM

The Saturday, January 23rd 7PM show will be rescheduled for Sunday, January 31st 7:00 PM

All tickets for the Friday, January 22nd and Saturday, January 23rd shows will be honored for the new date and times.

As previously reported, the shows will be Brooks’ first tour dates in Baltimore.

According to The Weather Channel, more than 65 million Americans in 18 states are under blizzard warnings or winter storm warnings as Winter Storm Jonas cranks up over the South and marches toward the East Coast, generating an expanding swath of snow and ice across both regions. Another 21 million people are under National Weather Service watches and advisories for winter weather in anticipation of Jonas’ impacts.

Jonas had already dumped up to a foot of snow in western North Carolina as of late Friday morning. A half foot or more of snow has also been measured in parts of Kentucky, Tennessee, upstate South Carolina, western Virginia, West Virginia and Arkansas.
