Mercury Nashville record label has decided to part ways with Scotty McCreery.
Scotty was signed by Mercury shortly after his winning season on Amercan Idol. The 22 year old has had moderate success with his three albums, two studio and one Christmas. “See You Tonight” was his highest charting song, which peaked at number 8 on Billboard.
While he has not dominated the charts, he has had strong sales in the past, with four of his singles being certified platinum for sales of one million or more.
It looks like this came as a surprise to McCreery, as he talked enthusiastically about his upcoming album, telling the New England Patriots website that he’d cut 10 songs and planned to record a few more. He went on to say he would be part of the final season of American Idol.
