Watching “The Passion” is emotional enough, if like most audiences, you place yourself in the moment and feelings of the events on stage. But as Trisha Yearwood will tell you, as she plays Mary, the mother of Jesus, in Fox’s Live musical event on Sunday (The Passion), “I’m having to sing songs that I’m going to be singing at the foot of the cross, and I had to be thinking about what was happening in the story when I was singing the song,” says Yearwood, revealing to PEOPLE magazine she cried while recording tracks for the event’s soundtrack. “I got very emotional, which is not the norm for me in the studio. That was the last time I’ve cried.”
“As Mary, Yearwood will sing Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love”, Jewel’s “Hands”, Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up”, Lifehouse’s “Broken” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.”
Noted in the article, “The Passion will feature stages in multiple locations around New Orleans and the star-studded cast – which also includes Telenovela’s Jencarlos Canela as Jesus Christ, American Idol alum Chris Daughtry as Judas, Seal as Pontius Pilate, Latin recording star Prince Royce as the disciple Peter and Tyler Perry as the narrator and host – will sing live during the two-hour musical event.”
The Passion will air live on March 20 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
