Songwriter Freddy Powers Dead at 84

Songwriter Freddy Powers has passed away at the age of 84 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Freddy Powers was raised in Seminole, Texas. His music career began with him playing in a family band.  Powers found his way to Fort Worth, Texas where he was introduced to Willie Nelson.

Nelson convinced Powers to play guitar and sing on Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Powers co-wrote, “Let’s Chase Each Other Around the Room” (1984), “Natural High,” and “A Place to Fall Apart” (1984).
